1. Overview

Are you converting your vinyl LPs, tapes or cassettes to CDs or MP3 Files?

Having to record every track as a separate WAV file so that you can access them individually on a CD or encode them as separate MP3 files can be time-consuming.

LP Ripper makes the task much easier by automatically splitting a recording of a whole LP or cassette into separate tracks. It is designed to be used with the recording software LP Recorder and the standard audio CD-burning software LP Burner

LP Recorder, LP Ripper and LP Burner are used together to record an LP or cassette to a CD in this way:

• Use LP Recorder to record both sides of your LP or tape to a single CD-quality WAV file onto your hard disk.
  
• Select Split Tracks from the LP Recorder menu to launch LP Ripper to split the large WAV file into a separate WAV file for each track.
  
• Select Burn Tracks from the LP Ripper menu to launch LP Burner to copy the resulting track WAV files to a blank CD-R disk. 

Refer to the Quickstart Guide supplied with each program for more detailed step-by-step instructions.

Alternatively, an optional encoder can be used with LP Ripper to produce an MP3, WMA, AAC or similar audio file for each track. Encoded files are much smaller, allowing you to store the equivalent of a dozen or so LPs on a single CD, playable on a computer or special-purpose player. They can also be transferred to be played on an iPod or similar portable music player.

How does LP Ripper work?

LP Ripper calculates the length of each track by detecting the gap between tracks and displays a track listing showing the time of each track. You can then select which tracks you want to save as separate files.

Some LPs have little or no gaps between tracks; others have long quiet sections that could be mistaken for a gap. You can change the times that LP Ripper has calculated or you can trim the tracks visually using the coarse / fine waveform display.

2. Minimum System Requirements

• Windows 10 or Windows 11.
   
• The recommended memory and processor type that supports your version of Windows is sufficient.
   
• SVGA display using Normal (Small) fonts, and Medium (16-bit) colours
   
• A soundcard compatible with the standard Windows Mixer / Volume control. It must be capable of playing CD-format (16-bit, mono or stereo, 44.1Khz) WAV files
   
• At least 300Mb Free disk space (for approx. 30 Minutes' WAV storage)
   
• Software for recording standard uncompressed WAV files. If you do not already have a suitable program LP Recorder, which has been specifically designed with features to suit recording LPs is also available from CFB Software.
   
• If you want to record your own CDs you will also need a Read/Write CD drive and software that can create standard Audio CDs from WAV files. Suitable CD writing software may have been supplied with your CD drive. Otherwise LP Burner is recommended for use with LP Ripper and LP Recorder.
   
• If you want to create compressed MP3 files you will also need a third-party command-line encoder. Either use Google or a similar search engine to search for a command-line MP3 encoder or check the LP Ripper links page at the CFB Software website for any latest information.

3. Installation

LP Ripper is distributed as a self-installing file LPSetup.exe

Install LP Ripper as follows:

• Download and run the installation file LPSetup.exe file and follow the prompts.

• When the installation program has completed, to run LP Ripper either click on the LP Ripper desktop icon or select:
  
  Windows Start > All Programs > LP Ripper > LP Ripper

4. Documentation

All of the documentation is contained in the online Help file. When running LP Ripper, press the F1 key for to display Help related to the current screen or select Help from the menu for information on other parts of the system.

5. Ordering Information

5.1 Free Trial Version

The trial version of LP Ripper is available free of charge so you can check how useful it will be to you. It has all of the features of the registered full version except that only the first two tracks can be saved or encoded.

You are free to distribute the trial version. It may be given away to anyone, included on CD-ROM libraries, uploaded to WWW pages, ftp sites and bulletin boards, etc. as long as it is distributed in its complete original form.
 

5.2 Ordering LP Ripper

You can order the full version of LP Ripper in various currencies using:

Most on-line credit card orders can be processed in real-time and the full version downloaded to be used straight away.

Note: DO NOT distribute the registered full version of LP Ripper without the expressed written consent of the author.


5.3 Refund Policy

CFB Software's products are provided as trial versions that can be downloaded via our website. Use these 'try-before-you-buy' versions to ensure that they are compatible with your computer systems and satisfy all of your requirements before purchasing a full version.  All sales of full version licences are final. Once the access details for the full version have been issued they cannot be cancelled. Thus we are only able to provide refunds for accidental duplicate orders.

6. List of Files

The LP Ripper package installation program is a single file called LPSetup.exe

8. Licence Agreement

You should carefully read the following terms and conditions before using this software. Your use of this software indicates your acceptance of this licence agreement and disclaimer.

Trial Version

There are no restrictions to the number of computers that the trial version of LP Ripper may be installed on, or the number of people that can use it at any one time.

Registered Full Version

A registered full version of LP Ripper may be installed on one or more computers but may only be used by the single person in whose name it is registered.

Music Copyright

LP Ripper must not be used in any way which would contravene any music copyright laws applicable to the user.

LP Ripper is used entirely at the risk of the user. Although great care has been taken to eliminate defects during the development of LP Ripper, it is not claimed to be fault-free. No claims are made regarding its correctness, reliability or fitness for any particular purpose.
